I remember this commercial.
i love this
I absolutely hated this commercial as a child. It was on every show, on every network, every day, for YEARS!. You weren't safe from it anywhere. It would always find you. Now here I am, safe from it for decades, and finding joy in the memories of my hatred.
Lol 😂it's so funny 😁 I always wanted to go see cats when I was a kid back in the day 😂
One of many productions that played at Minskoff before The Lion King found its permanent home there
Is that Kevin Kline? It’s hard to tell
LOL, I like it when David said "This is no day at the beach." XD
"It's good to see you guys. It's...been a long time for me."
"even better for grown-ups" I felt that. Growing up is realizing the true deeper meaning behind all of those nostalgic comic strips
Garbage musical.
I did crew for my high school’s production of this in 2021 and I had a GREAT time
3:10
They played this ad in LA back in the 80s nonstop it was horrible, the only difference it was at the Pantages theaters. I was unaware of what the word cringe meant back then but that’s exactly what this commercial was.
Always on during What's Happening reruns
LMAOO IF YOU DONT KNOW THIS COMMERCIAL YOUR NOT A REAL 90'S KID
January 24, 2021
Commercial of my youth. ❤❤❤
Anyone who lived in the tri-state during the 80s and 90s have this commercial burned into their memory.
Another thing: The "zipper" atop the entrance to the Shubert was controlled by a "copy changer" unit by Time-O-Matic (now WatchFire Signs), dated to 1968, that spit out perforator tape in the shape of the letters and numbers you saw scroll along that sign, all connected to a Teletype Model 33 (that is, with Baudot / Murray / ITA2 technology, rather than the later ASCII). That same control was also used starting in late 1969 on the Canadian Club billboard at the back of the 1560-1564 Broadway block, and would be in use after Suntory (on two occasions) and Midori respectively advertised in that spot. By the time "A Chorus Line's" run at the Shubert ended in 1990, however, the zipper's controls were from a circa 1976 Time-O-Matic computer-based "Public Information Display" which was also used, at the time, on both (after 1978) the Coca-Cola zipper on 47th and Broadway, and (with double-stroke type) on that of the Grand Pussycat Theatre on Broadway between 48th and 49th Streets.
In order on the second commercial: Donna McKechnie (Cassie), Ronald Dennis (Richie), Pamela Blair (Val) and Wayne Cilento (Mike). Voiceover by Norman Rose. Remember that ad, and seeing it again brought back memories of the sequence. This ad was run in at least three other cities: Chicago, Los Angeles and Atlanta. I know "Gimme The Ball," and the excerpt of "Dance: Ten; Looks: Three" - not to mention "One" - but where would Mike's scat have come from, and what number was Cassie kicking her heels to?
I heard some of the tracks from the original cast album, the first number heard was from "The Music And The Mirror," the last from "I Can Do That."
I don't think there was a commercial that played more than this one... and not only did it play every time they gave a commercial, but it lasted for years and years... I hated so much, but now that I see it, it's part of my childhood
This and The original unsolved mysteries theme will forever be in my memory..
I'm Canadian and saw this regularly during evening programs in the 80s. My siblings and I really wanted to watch this musical.
When John Cullum passes away, I’m going to cry all day.
I will most likely sing "Come Back To Me".
“I need this job, oh God I really need this show…” ❤
Angela Lansbury R.I.P Mrs.Potts From Beauty And The Beast 1991
Saw him twice in Shenandoah and still got goose bumps when he sang this song!!!
*MOOOOM!! CAN WE GO SEE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA???? PLEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSEEEEE????!!!!!!!!*
Still Getting that 80s nostalgic kick in 2024.
The show is called Sweeney Todd but Lansbury gets top billing. GFH.
Campy
This scared me when I was a kid
Yes isn't my report to r but I didn't like it that much
FIRST BROADWAY PLAY. NEVER FORGOT JOHN CALLUM. LOVE THEATER BECAUSE OF MR. JOHN CALLUM. THANK YOU.
We all want our childhoods back....right now!!
i ❤ Broadway show
i ❤ Broadway show
These commercials sold me as a kid just from the repetition alone. I thought it looked corny, but it felt so mysterious that I wanted to see it, especially when they mentioned it would be leaving indefinitely. Once those commercials stopped though, I didn't want to see it anymore. The ad designers nailed it I think.
I follow wpix archives on my facebook page and this commercial they sent me.i was a teenager in 1991 and i saw cyd charisse on the home shopping club and she mentioned being in grand hotel.i never saw this commercial before.i enjoy this womans enthusiasm.
Holling! I loved him in Northern Exposure
Cuanta belleza y cuanta elegancia.unico..l love richard❤❤❤
This commercial is awesome!! Note: This musical came to Broadway before Kinky Boots became a sensational hit on Broadway!!
Love this commerical as a child that's why today I'm still a cat lover. I grew up in the 80s in new york
Esa frente ancha es la mas bella que he visto❤❤
This is what it means to be a goth. Get over your fears and own up to it!! This commercial used to scare me as a kid to but it reminded me of that all things pass. That's the beauty of this commercial. Think about it!! I'm a 1982 baby for goodness sake!!!
Demasiado bello.unico.richard el mejor❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hermoso.unico...bello..te querre siempre❤❤💝😍😘💝😍😘💝😍😘💝😍😘💝😍😘💝😍😘💝😍😘❤❤❤❤
I remember being like 7 when this commercial was out and it seemed like it was being aired for about 5 years because the time was slower when you were a kid.
Gower Champion (the show's director) died, a few hours before the opening night performance. For the good of the show, the producer kept the news from the cast and crew. After the cast took their bows, he stepped forward, and made a speech that began with, "This is a tragedy." Everyone thought he was joking. Until he continued with, "Gower Champion died this afternoon." You can imagine the reaction.
I loved this commercial as a kid. NY in the 80's. I miss it so much!!!
